NVMS Faculty competes in MTNA Conference

Congratulations to D’Andre Conant who won the Montana MTNA (Music Teachers National Association) Piano Competition, specifically in the ‘Young Artist Performance’ category (age 19-26), on Thursday, November 2nd.

He’ll now compete in the MTNA Northwest Division. The division winner advances to the National Finals, with results in mid-January. MTNA competitions start at the state level, and then move to divisional and national levels.

He played the 1st movement of Mozart’s Piano Sonata No. 12 in F Major, Debussy’s Reflets dans l’eau, and Chopin’s Scherzo No. 2.

This is a significant milestone for the FVCC Music department and the Valley, as it marks the first win by one of our students in this competition.

“I am incredibly proud of D’Andre’s achievement in winning the Montana MTNA Piano Competition. His dedication, talent, and hard work have truly paid off. It’s a testament to his musical prowess and the excellent training he’s received,” said FVCC Music Faculty and NVMS Faculty alumni Eunwha Park.

“This milestone is not only a personal triumph for D’Andre, but also a significant moment for our FVCC Music department and the entire community. We’re excited to see how he will continue to excel in the future.

The MSMTA Fall Conference is held every year in a different location. In 2023, it was held in Kalispell and hosted by the Kalispell Area Chapter.
