“This was my first experience leading a Suzuki Book 1 “play-through” for my students, and I thought it was a lot of fun!

Around 8 or 9 students attended; one of them was a brand-new beginner just coming with his mom to check it out. It was great to have my sister and also a former NVMS violin instructor play with us, adding wonderful support.

The play-through provided not only the goal and challenge of reviewing and memorizing a number of songs but most importantly an opportunity to play with other students of varying levels in a fun, relaxed environment,” said Amy.

North Valley Music School was founded 25 years ago, offering Suzuki-based violin and piano lessons, and preschool group music classes. Later, guitar, voice, and cello were added shortly thereafter. Early board priorities were to begin music education early in life and offer Suzuki instruction for the early years, as the inclusion of parents in the learning is so critical.

Hosting this Suzuki-based evening was a wonderful way to honor NVMS’s roots for its 25th Anniversary and to build community among music students of various ages who are all taking private music lessons.

Thanks to everyone for participating and thanks to Dan for the lovely accompaniment! 🎹
